Fourth of July Party Candles

We hosted a Fourth of July activity day for a group of kids today. We made these little candle centerpieces to give to each of the families to take home with them.

Start with a glass jar. Add four teaspoons of rubbing alcohol and about 20 drops of food coloring to the jar. Then add 1 1/2 cups of white rice to the jar. Place the lid on the jar and shake it until all the rice is colored.
Dump the rice on a pan covered with paper towel. It will dry in about 30 minutes.

When the rice is dry, add a heaping1/2 cup of red rice to the bottom of the jar, a heaping 1/2 cup of white rice, and a heaping 1/2 cup of blue rice. Top with a tea light candle.
