Fourth of July Cupcakes

After lunch the kids got to enjoy these colorful cupcakes.

Start with a white cake mix. Scoop out about 1 cup of batter and place it in a separate bowl. Add red food gel to the batter and mix. Take another cup of batter and place in another bowl. Add blue food gel to that batter.
 
Using a mini ice cream scoop, add a drop of each of the colored batters into a cupcake liner.


Bake according to the package directions.

Line a decorating tool (or a cake decorating bag) with strips of red and blue gel. I did two lines of blue and two lines of red. Scoop the white frosting into the tool or the bag and pipe on the cupcakes.
